happy halloween!

svsvsvs
Hello, my happy friend. You have high spirits and
know how to have a good time. When your friends
go out, most likely they invite you almost all
the time. You most likely will enjoy your
Halloween. Good for you. Keep up the
experiment. You probably light people's dark
days with your smiles and laughter. Although
you're good, doesn't mean you're an angel. You
can tend to have a scary and/or other type of
side to you. As long as you have fun, do your
scares this Halloween. Have a safe and happy
one, Joyous Pumpkin.

group picture

Just finished watching Sex and The City on HBO, it was an episode where carrie wanted to have some major bonding time with the girls and so they ended up in a casino in Atlantic city. Carrie wanted to have their group picture taken because according to her, their last group picture is already getting moldy. But because of unfortunate events, they just couldn’t be a complete group in time for a picture. Anyways to make the story short, they had finally taken their group picture on board a bus on the way home to Manhattan.

So what’s the point? Well, I just had a major bonding time with my old friends (minus June who's currently in Arizona about to give birth to a baby girl!) early this evening on the wedding of Joy. It’s been years since I had been out with them and it’s nice to know that there are still things (good ones at that) which have not changed. After the reception, we bid our goodbyes to the latest bride of our group and her husband Reden........Angie, Brenda and I decided to stroll by the hotel beach for a while pretending to sip red wine from the wine glasses that were given as souvenirs...he he..... We were tempted to crash the Hawaiian birthday party by the beach but then Dennis who is in Philadelphia called us up to ask how the wedding went blah blah blah and to catch up on the latest chismis about us. Suddenly, we were all 21 year olds again. Talking about foolish things, remembering all the bloopers we’ve had when we were still starting on our jobs, sharing the news that Fonso (our other friend currently living in London) has broken up with his girl (to the utter delight of Angie… he he he).

On our way to the lobby, we saw a table full of pictures from the wedding apparently for sale. We saw one that has the three of us with the bride. It was a nice shot, but we didn’t buy it. Maybe one day we would be able to finally have that group picture with everyone present. I just hope it would not show too much of the wrinkles and the gray hairs.

weekend rantings

Last Saturday, I was so pissed of at work! I could’ve been at SM with my sister enjoying their 3 day sale. But no I am at work sweating it out with the instruments and dealing with total assholes (read doctors!). The worst part of it was that I was the charge nurse, and three of the other nurses were absent. So it was my duty to make it a point that the nurse to anesthesiologist ratio is equal all the time. Because of the understaffing, I was forced to go on a 16 hours duty, because the nurses on call at that time were not available. As to why they were not available, I don’t want to understand. All I want at that time is to strangle them one by one, strap them down the operating table and if I get lucky give them a dose of lethal injection.

Sunday was the only no work day for me in a week. So instead of sleeping all day in my room, I dragged my sister to the mall and did a little bit of shopping. Bayo was having a sale, and I was lucky to have found something I really, really wanted in their racks. When I was already paying for the item, I got so excited when the cash register indicated only half the price of my purchase. I nudged my sister excitedly because I wasn’t expecting that blouse to be included in the sale! “Uy half price lang!” The salesperson must have noticed my excitement because she rechecked the item. “Ay sori po, hindi pala kasali sa sale namin 'tong blouse.” My momentary excitement suddenly went kaput. I could’ve owned the blouse for only half the price, but afterwards as we went out of the store holding a bag of Bayo it felt good knowing that that salesperson would not pay half the price of something that I would wear with guilt in my heart...

counting sheep

These past weeks I have been sleeping very late. It’s not because I need to sleep late, but because of my fucked up schedule at work. Imagine a work that starts at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon and ends at 11:00 pm… everyday… for the whole month of October. That’s my schedule. Enviable isn’t it? Hell no!

Because I get off from work at around past 11, I would reach home by 12 midnight. After the necessary pre-sleeping ceremonies at the bathroom, you’d think I’d go straight to bed and snore my ass off. But no, I would still be hyped up with all the adrenalin left from going around in circles at the operating room. Sometimes, a little bit of crossword here, clearing out of long unused files from the computer after, playing some PC games, checking out what’s on HBO and watching a really boring movie does the trick. But now, it seems that sleep has become so elusive as a dashingly handsome bachelor with intelligence to speak of and a good sense of humor to boot. Out of desperation to really knock myself out on my pillows, I resort to a technique that a friend once mentioned works for her. I tried reading my NCLEX reviewer and boy did it work! Two pages down the first chapter and I couldn’t care less if my lights were not turned off.

Hey, this really works for me… maybe next time I’ll try a calculus book or some of those thick Theology handouts I had in college and maybe, just maybe… I would be able to sleep before any rooster signals the beginning of another day.

moving out

i am now upgraded to the second floor of our house. last saturday, i swapped rooms with my brother and his wife. You see, my sister in law is 7 or 8 months pregnant (i'm not really sure how far on the way she is!) and she's already having difficulty going up and down those blasted stairs. and seeing the opportunity of having a bigger room, i agreed to the idea of us swapping rooms. what i did not foresee was the difficult task of moving out. pakshet! ang hirap pala!

it took me countless trips up and down the stairs to bring most of my stuff, some of which until now are still lying around waiting to be put into it's proper place. the most difficult part was hauling the computer upstairs as i still have to remove all the plugs and connections and dismantle the computer table all by myself because it wouldn't fit the doorframe. anak ng tinapa! what have i gotten into?! I couldn't imagine how people who move house every few months do it. We haven't moved to another house ever since i was born so i really have no idea. this is practically the major move out i've done in my life.

right now, i am slowly putting my things into their proper places, although you'll still see some pairs of shoes outside my door and under the bed. I think i'll get to them right after i take in the view of our neighborhood from the window of my new room.

terminal leave

Finally! After almost three years of working for my dear hospital, I am leaving. I handed in my resignation letter yesterday. I have already started working on my clearances, but my resignation would not take effect ‘til December 1, 2003. Already, I am looking forward to a day when I would not think about going on duty and not being on call. I feel excited and at the same time guilty for leaving the first and only job I had after college.

As early as this, I already feel nostalgic about it all. This job has been a part of my life after all. This is where I’ve had my firsts. My first resuscitation, my first expired patient, my first argument with a doctor or a superior, my first paycheck, the list goes on.

I don’t know what I would feel when my awaited day would come. I bet it would be weird not having a schedule that would totally mess up my social life or more importantly my sleeping patterns. It would be depressing to check on my ATM every 15th and 30th of the month, as I would be expecting nothing. I would officially be a bum come December 1, 2003 and it gives me a liberating feeling.

i'm an entrancing kiss!

entrancing
You have an entrancing kiss~ the kind that leaves
your partner bedazzled and maybe even feeling
he/she is dreaming. Quite effective; the kiss
that never lessens and always blows your
partner away like the first time.

sticking it out inspite of

i've been thinking a lot lately. i wanted to create another web log since this one has gathered enough fungi to shame the worst athletes foot in the world (exagge ba?). but re-reading the things i've written here (errors and all!) i decided to stick it out with this mushpit of sorts. i know it's not much, but what can you expect from me? i'm a total wreck when it comes to things like this. i tried doing something on the template once and it resulted to the disintegration of my archives. go figure! now i can't retrieve the archives even if my life depended on it.

but because i like an avenue for releasing my repressed thoughts and emotions, i'm sticking it out with this one. i'll try to do something spectacular for my blog's look one day, but that would be when i have the time to spare and most importantly the "know how".....
